Lina Zerón

Lina Zerón, Mexican, born in Mexico City in 1959, is a writer, poet, cultural journalist and an publisher. Her poetry has been translated into several languages. She
has received numerous awards, including Doctor Honoris Causa from the
University of Tumbes, Peru, 2007, Honorary Professor of Graduate School,
University Alcides, Carrión, Peru, 2008, Gold Medal to the most valuable
foreign poet in Montevideo, Uruguay, 2003, second place in the International
Poetry competition, Melilla, Spain for her book Red Wine in 2003, Woman
of the Year 2002 in the State of Mexico for her poetic career, Honored Poet of
Claude Couffon's translation workshops, Brittany, France, 2002, and Eagle
Warrior Award for her poetic career from the Circle of Speakers, Mexico,
June 2005. She was a finalist for the Victor Varela Mora Prize, for published
work, Caracas, Venezuela, May 2006. She was a guest of honor, along with
Ernesto Cardenal and Raúl Zurita, at the 75th anniversary of the Chilean
Society of Writers, Santiago, in November 2006. Her poem, “A Great Country,” which has been translated into seventeen languages, appears in
the textbook, Course of Spanish Language and Literature (Tenth course),
Nicaragua, 2006. She has served as judge and jury in various national and
international poetry and short story competitions.
